Art Can Be Galant 3 : The Artist and his Design
His perfect design was going up in flames right before his eyes.
Kunle knew what he had to do. He had no other choice.
He had to seize the moment.
So he ran towards Panbi in full flight, still with the knife in his hand.
*THREE HOURS EARLIER*
Tiwa’s birthday party was perfect. From the design of the entire setting to the choice of music, everything was on point!
And food was flowing like a river.
Even big girl Aisha was dismembering her food like
This chicken na die
Even her equally big boy boyfriend, Vincent, was currently battling it out in the toilet like
Ojukokoro go still kill me one day.
Nnamdi delivered Kunle’s note to Tiwa and ran off before she knew what was happening.
Tiwa smiled as she read the content of the note.
“ Happy Birthday to the lovely lady,
Whose smile lights up the dark
In Five minutes, come ready
For a special gift at the Carpark”
Kunle walked over to the birthday cake and cut himself a piece. He played with the table-knife absent-mindedly. Everything was set. Everyone was raring to go. They had rehearsed it over and over again.
But what if it all went south? He’d be the laughing stock for the second time in a short while. Ah, Dear Lord, this had to work..it had to..
“Senior Kunle, Tiwa is already going to the park”
“I’m sorry, what?? Is it time already?”
“Yes, Senior Kunle. I saw you standing here, playing with knife. They have already gone to the park sha..”
Kunle Galant ran as fast as he could to the park. It wasn’t too far off, thankfully. Within two minutes, he was crouching beside Lami, waiting for Tiwa to arrive.
Here she was…
…and there Panbi was too, like her shadow.
Kunle sighed. No-one was going to spoil his plan tonight.
Tiwa giggled as she looked around, waiting for her surprise.
Now was the moment. Kunle signaled to Lami and waited with bated breath.
Here it comes…
…Nothing happened.
“Lami, wetin dey happen??!!!!”, Kunle hissed.
-
“Bro, e be like sey the projector wan spoil o..”
Kunle almost died.
He felt an urgent need to pee, as he ran to Lami. Already, Tiwa was getting impatient.
“Panbi, maybe it was just a prank. I really need to get back to my party”
“I think we should wait for a bit..”
“Sorry to cut you, dear, but I need to pick this”, Tiwa said, before walking in to the distance, chatting with a well-wisher.
Lami had just told Kunle that it was a small glitch, but he would need 5 minutes to get it running. 5 minutes. And Tiwa was already anxious to leave.
So Kunle swallowed his pride and made a beeline for his Arch-rival, still with the cake knife in his hand. He needed Panbi to keep Tiwa at the Park for the next 300 seconds if his plan was going to work.
Otherwise, his perfect design would have all have been for nothing.
