SUGAR, SPICE AND EVERYTHING ART!
Okay, so I was going through my Twitter timeline early one morning when I stumbled upon a sponsored tweet (I think it was the gold and black design that caught my attention) that invited me to an event exhibition.
At this point, the tweet had my full attention. Here’s why :
At Pencils n Brushes, we had recently developed a package just for events and had been looking for the right platform to showcase them. With products and services ranging from Speed paintings and Live paintings to Wedding I.V designs, the Sugar rush exhibition looked like the perfect opportunity to reach out to our target audience. And so we registered for it.
This is what a speed painting looks like
A few weeks and some phone calls after, we found ourselves at the vendors meeting for the exhibition. It was a well-organised meeting, featuring some of the biggest players in the Event sector.
On the D-day, we arrived at Intercontinental Hotel and quickly proceeded to our booth to set up our artworks and gear. We had decided to exhibit a speed painting, perform a Live painting of the hall and also show our Jon ‘Ifa’ Snow to the world.
The invited guests started trooping in sometime around 12noon. ChiGurl was in her element, cracking everyone up while we painted and talked to the guests who came to our booth.
A lot of them were drawn in by Jon ‘Ifa’ snow, by the way. He played his part well.
Jon ‘Ifa’ Snow with them ladies!
We explained our services to the guests that came around and they were quite receptive to the idea of Visual art at events. Even though it was somewhat stressful having to talk to so many people (i think it was made worse by our empty stomachs), it was also lots of fun.
How else can i explain how beautiful the entire event was? The Hall was beautiful. Wande Coal’s stage performance was riveting. ChiGurl couldn’t have done better. The crowd was sizeable. All the vendors were impressive.
I think the Sugar Rush Exhibition is a good idea and a good platform. We will definitely be there again, next year!
